His wife Dorothy died in a plane crash and in his wife's name he installed a bench here which is dedicated to Dorothy's memory. Since then this place came to be known as Dorothy's Seat.

Tiffin Top is situated on the top of a hill. This place is about 4 kilometers from Nainital. You can reach Tiffin Top by trekking from Mall Road of Nainital. This track is not very difficult but not easy either. If trekking is not your preferred activity then you can also come here by taxi. Apart from this, one can also reach here by horse riding which costs around Rs 700 per person.
