Almora or Almai (Almora is called Almai in Kumaoni language) is a cantt/cantonment city in the state of Uttarakhand. Almora is a famous hill station of Uttarakhand, situated in the Kumaon Hills of the Himalayas. Almora is situated on the banks of the Koshi and Suyal rivers and is well known for the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas.

Zero Point - Binsar, Almora | Almora Tourist Places to Visit
Zero point, a location beyond which it is not possible to go, is called zero point. Many such places can be found in the hill stations of Uttarakhand. The zero point of Almora is also the same kind of location. One can trek for about 2 km to reach the zero point at BInsar. The entire trekking route is surrounded by thick green trees. It is very relaxing to reach zero point through these trees. Zero Point is a view point and from here one can visit the vast view of open sky and forest.
Zero Point located in Binsar is famous as the best view point and most famous tourist place. Situated at an altitude of about 2400 meters above sea level, Zero Point offers amazing views of sunrise and sunset. Coming here, you would definitely like to stay for a while and enjoy the views of nature, that is why tourists often like to reach at the Zero Point in morning hours. A 360 degree view of the high peaks of the Himalayas can be seen from this zero point. Kedarnath Shikhar, Shivling, and Nanda Devi peaks can also be seen from here.
Jageshwar Dham Almora | Almora Tourist Places to Visit
Jageshwar town, situated at a distance of 35 km from Almora, is famous for the ancient temple group. A large number of devotees come here for darshan. There are 125 small and big temples in this temple group, famous as Jageshwar Dham. Jageshwar Dham is a place of religious importance. It is said that this place has been the place of penance for sages and deities. It is also said that Lord Shiva himself also did penance here. The group of temples established here is said to have been established by the Pandavas and renovated by the then rulers in the 7th century.
The largest and most visited of the temples here is the Jageshwar Mahadev Temple, situated on the Jataganga valley. According to the Archaeological Department, these temples were built at different times. Most of the temples located here were built in the 9th century.
Prayers are organized here on the ocassion of Shivratri. The temples established here are examples of excellent architecture and art.
Kasar Devi Shakti Mandir Almora
Van Allen radiation belt, which is a belt around the earth, free from the effect of this radiation belt, this place has its own special geographical importance. There are only three places in the whole world that are not affected by the radiation belt and this place is one of those three. The other two sites are Machu Picchu in Peru and Stonehenge in England.
This place has always been famous for spiritual practice. Swami Vivekananda also visited this place and meditated in a cave. It is believed that the meditation done here is more effective than done in any other place. People experiences ultimate peace.
Kasar Devi Shakti Temple is about 2500 years old. It is believed that Goddess Durga in the form of Katyayini killed the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha at this very place. Inscriptions written in Brahmi script can also be seen here. Dense forests of deodar can be seen around here. A very beautiful view of this valley of the Himalayas can be seen from the hill of the temple of Kasar Devi.
Every year on Kartik Purnima a big fair is organized in the Kasar Devi temple premises.
Chitai Mandir Almora
Temple of Chitai, it is known as Golu Devta Chitai Temple. The temple of Chitai, located about 9 km from Almora city, is a special place for tourists visiting Almora. This temple is very famous among the devotees and the devotees who come here write their prayer on a paper like a letter and put it in the temple premises and when their wish is fulfilled, they come here and ring the bell.
This temple is dedicated to Golu Devta, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. This temple is known as the place of the god of justice.
