Shantikunj Ashram is a world famous ashram located in Haridwar which is the headquarters of the All-World Gayatri Parivar. Branches are established in 80 countries outside India. Shantikunj Ashram inspires to understand and adopt spirituality in one's life. Shantikunj Ashram is also called Shri Gayatri Tirtha.

Establishment - Shanti Kunj Ashram

Freedom fighter and social reformer Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya started the spiritual movement. He established Gayatri Parivar in Mathura and later shifted its head office to present Shantikunj, Haridwar in 1971. Shantikunj Ashram, which started from a small ashram, has today become a huge complex.

Since its inception, Shantikunj Ashram has been working for individual upliftment, family upliftment and social upliftment. This ashram and organization is continuously working to fulfill the slogan given by the founder of the ashram, Shriram Sharma Acharya, “Hum Badlenge, Yug Badlega”.

Shantikunj Ashram has the Samadhi place and Yagya Shalas of Shri Ram Sharma Acharya. Here the fire keeps burning in the yagya schools. After coming here you can participate in the Yagya. Gayatri Mata Temple is a main attraction in the ashram complex. The Rishi Muni Ashram located within the Ashram complex gives further information about the Rishi tradition dating back to Vedic times.

The Wandering God Temple located in the Shantikunj Ashram complex is an interesting and eye-opening concept. There are some mirrors/mirrors installed in the Wandering God Complex where one can look at oneself in the mirror with different messages taken from the Vedas to understand the real meaning. The temple of the Wandering Gods situated in the ashram explains that there is no need to search for knowledge outside, rather one has to search for it within oneself.

Akhand Jyoti - Shanti Kunj Ashram

Akhand Jyoti has great importance in the Ashram. This flame has been burning since 1926. Now in the year 2024, it has been 98 years since this flame has been burning. This light can be seen between 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Book Store in Shanti Kunj Ashram

There is a big book store in the ashram premises itself. In this book store you can buy books related to Vedas and other religious texts. About 3200 books written by Shriram Sharma Acharya, the founder of Shantikunj Ashram are also available in this book store.

There is also a small shop in the ashram premises to buy items for daily needs. Apart from this, there is also a medical store and a hospital in the ashram premises.

The temple of Goddess Gayatri is established in the ashram premises. The organization of Shantikunj Ashram is also known by the name Gayatri Parivar. This temple is the main attraction here.

Stay - Shanti Kunj Ashram 

The facility to stay in the ashram is given free of cost and hence there is no permission to stay here for more than 2 days. Apart from free food, there is also a cafeteria in the ashram. Here you can also buy and have a snack.

Routine - Shanti Kunj Ashram

The day starts at 3:30 in the morning at Shantikunj Ashram. Here every morning starts with the recitation of Gayatri Mantra and Yagya. In the restaurant located in the ashram, free food is given to the people coming here twice a day. Apart from this, many programs are organized at different places in the Ashram. Often these programs are inspired by Hindu rituals and Vedic rituals. Every day a large number of people come here to participate in the various programs going on in the Ashram.

If you want to perform any religious ritual after coming to the ashram, no fee is charged for that also. People keep coming here from far and wide to perform the rituals and rites of Hindu religion. If you want to come here to participate in any kind of training camp, then you can register for it at the Gayatri Ashram of your area and then as per the program, you can join the Ashram here.

This ashram is operated according to the principle of volunteerism, hence the people coming here do all their work themselves and if needed, also serve others.

How to reach Shanti Kunj Ashram Haridwar

Shantikunj Ashram is located in Haridwar. Haridwar is a main city of Uttarakhand and also a famous tourist place. This city is located at a distance of about 50 kilometers from Dehradun.

If you are traveling by flight, then after reaching Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, you can reach Haridwar by road.

If you are traveling by train then you can easily reach Haridwar Railway Station from any part of the country. You can reach Shantikunj Ashram from Haridwar station or by auto from anywhere in Haridwar city.
