Mansa Devi Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Mansa located in Haridwar. This temple of Mansa Devi, located on the Bilva mountain in the Shivalik range of the Himalayas, is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths located in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. This temple of Mansa Devi is also known as Bilva Tirtha.

Manasa Devi is believed to be the daughter of Lord Shiva. Manasa Devi is called Manas Putri of Lord Shiva which means daughter in human form. According to some mythology, Manasa Devi is also believed to be the daughter of sage Kashyapa. It is believed that Manasa Devi was born from the mind of Sage Kashyapa and hence she was called Manasa.
Mansa Devi's relationship with Lord Shiva is considered to be that of a teacher and disciple. Mansa Devi had received education from Lord Shiva and that is why she is also called "Shaivi". Mansa Devi is also called a part of Lord Shiva. Manasa Devi is also known as the sister of Vasuki the serpent wrapped around the neck of Lord Shiva.

Manasa means desire or wish. Manasa Devi is worshiped as the wish-fulfilling goddess.
Mansa Devi Mandir Haridwar Worship timings
The temple of Mansa Devi remains open for devotees from 5 in the morning till 9 in the night for darshan and worship. The temple closes for two hours from 12 noon to 2 pm. There is a big market outside the temple from where you can buy prasad and chunni for worship. There are also restaurants in this market. Devotees can buy food of their choice from these restaurants.
There is a walk of about 3 kms to reach Mansa Devi Temple which is an easy trek. It takes about an hour to reach the temple by this track.
Another way to reach the temple is by ropeway. This ropeway is very much liked among the tourists. While going towards the temple in the trolley from the ropeway, a beautiful view of Haridwar and the river Ganga can be seen. If you want to go up to Mansa Mandir by ropeway then buy the ticket at ropeway ticket window. Here you have a choice of buying ticket for one way or for return. For return ticket the price is Rs.122.
The travel time from the ropeway to the temple is approximately 2 minutes. The ropeway trolleys go towards the temple from 6 in the morning and the timing of the ropeway trolley is till 6 in the evening. Devotees can also take only one-way ticket if they wish. Many devotees go by track while leaving and come by ropeway while coming back.
Devotees tie Kalava / thread here to fulfill their wishes in the temple and it is said that upon coming back they untie the thread tied here. To tie the thread here, you can buy it in the temple itself for Rs.10.

The ropeway is known as Mansa Devi Udankhatola. This ropeway was constructed for the convenience of the devotees. The ropeway takes devotees directly to the Mansa Devi temple from the lower station. The length of this ropeway is about 550 meters. It is situated at a height of about 180 meters.

By flight
To reach, if you come to Haridwar from distant parts of the country or from abroad, then you can reach Domestic and International Airport located in Delhi. Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest to Haridwar, which is only 50 kilometers away from Haridwar. One can easily reach Haridwar by road from Dehradun or from Delhi. On reaching Haridwar, you can take a local auto till the ropeway to reach Mansa Devi Temple. If you want, you can also trek to the temple.
By train
Haridwar is a well connected city by rail network of the country. From the main railway station of the country, Haridwar can be reached by direct or connected train. From Haridwar railway station one can reach by local auto, ropeway or track to Mansa Devi temple.
By road
Haridwar is well connected by road network. One can also reach here by state transport bus, by private tourist bus or by driving in your own car.
